Jingles for Jacqui
![]() Jingles for Jacqui
Jacqui is a Female 5 year old German Shepherd. She is a very sweet and loving girl that was turned in to the GA Dekalb County Animal Shelter in mid-September by her owner. It was very sad for Jacqui that her owner gave her up but lucky that DCAS contacted Canine Pet Rescue, and we were able to rescue Jacqui and place her into a wonderful and caring foster home.
It was obvious that Jacqui had had a very hard life. When she arrived at her foster home she was afraid to enter the home. Poor Jacqui had lived her life outside. As we have been going through our routine health checks and rehabilitation of this sweet girl we have learned that she is heartworm positive. This came as no surprise as it is a typical part of rescue in Georgia, especially for a dog that was left outside all of the time. Unfortunately, there are other even more serious problems that we were unaware of at the time. As Jacqui was having her spay area checked and her tummy rubbed her foster mom found a mammary nodule. As she felt around she found others, unfortunately 6 more mammary nodules were found and removed in early October. The nodules were sent to the UGA Veterinary College for histological testing. Two of the nodules were found to be malignant. Jacqui was then referred to the UGA Veterinary Oncology Department. The doctors at UGA found three more nodules which were removed along with a wider margin (scar revision) of the previous areas in mid October. Thankfully, there was no additional cancer found. Early this month Jacqui had her staples removed and is healing very well. Jacqui will have to be closely monitored for any reoccurring nodules. She will be checked monthly at UGA for a while and every 6 months, she will need x-rays along with an ultrasound. Jacqui is asking you to help her friends at Canine Pe t Rescue help her with her medical expenses. Canine Pet Rescue is a non-profit organization and we are able to operate and save dogs like Jacqui solely from donations and support from kind friends such as you reading this. All donation dollars are tax deductible. Thanking you in advance! Jacqui and the CPR Team |
